About the Convention Center

This 26-acre convention center holds events of all kinds ranging from small weddings to large trade shows to banquets and more. The 200,000+ square foot convention center consists of ample square footage of exhibit space, meeting rooms and a ballroom. The facility also includes an outdoor terrace, enclosed and open-air walkways between the convention center and the adjacent hotel, as well as a football field sized courtyard between the facilities.

The challenge

The Convention Center still had the original 20-year-old mechanically attached TPO and polyiso insulation over a metal roof. During installation there were a couple of original tapered sumps with TPO wrinkles on them, so the team had to have an eye for detail when installing the self-adhered TPO membrane.

The solution

To achieve a reliable roof in a timely manner, the contractor opted for GAF’s EverGuard^® Self Adhered TPO. I would highly recommend this material to anyone. Brooming the sheet right away allowed us to have smooth transitions up the wall, and we spent less time adhering without the use of termination bars.
